Actually, the screen readers in widespread daily use (e.g. JAWS, 
Window-Eyes, Hal) are designed to work through a recent version of 
Internet Explorer for Windows, and so support JavaScript functionality 
identically to IE.

It's a common misconception that screen readers are text-only, 
non-JS-capable user agents.

PS - Do you have any supporting references for your claim about cell 
phones? I'm very interested in these cases...

PPS - Splitting hairs, perhaps, but it's actually the Lynx *software* 
that doesn't support JS, rather than the users... :)
