In the current version of Photoshop (CS2) which is a few generation
ahead of PS6, you choose "Save for Web" from the File menu, choose GIF
as the file type, and make sure the transparency box is checked. Then,
down in the Color Table, click in the ugly green color and then click
the first icon from the left (it's a little checkerboard square) to make
it transparent. If you have the 2-up tab chosen, you will see the
immediate result in the right-hand frame.

Norman

I've been asked to change the size of the image - but with Photoshop 6 I can't figure out how to maintain the ugly green as the transparent color. All the googling I've done says "make the areas transparent". If I use the magic eraser or another tool I end up with a green halo around the image.
