I'm using subversion, but not Mac so I can't help you with the
specifics. The modern Macintosh is in fact a Unix flavor (FreeBSD), so
the tutorials might still apply to you.

I think the Subversion Users mailing list might be able to help you better:

After you get Subversion installed, there are several graphical
interface applications that you can install. I'd have to say that I wish
I had started using Subversion a lot sooner. It's really a great version
control tool, and it's free.
