I think if you included text at the beginning of the form explaining
what the asterisk stands for, you would be fine. And I would also use
color or <strong> or <em> to highlight the required field as well for
all those people who aren't visually impaired in any way. A combination
of the two seems most appropriate and would cover all the bases.
