I'm launching GoogleMini (also heavily hacked) on my work site in a few
days. The site receives about 1,200,000 page hits per week.
A few caveats:
1. Brush up on your XSL, because that's what the results template is
written in.
2. Support is not great. I've had several e-mails to Google Mini support
go entirely unanswered; most support now seems to be provided through
Google Groups (i.e., from other users.)
3. It has some annoying hard-coded quirks, such as truncating document
titles at around 54 characters in your results (there are workarounds,
but they ain't pretty.)
But for the (low) price you get what you pay for, I guess -- a solid
search engine (hardware included), but with spotty support.
