correction: 'PC' does not *guarantee* 'running Windows', but on a
general web dev list like this, when written by virtually anyone but
you, it does indeed *imply* running Windows.

every time someone refers to a Windows machine as a 'PC' you clutter the
list with this response. this time you even included the vital bit of
information that Linux is not an operating system, but a kernal (which
seems to be threatening to spawn its own religious-war thread.) 

can you imagine how unhelpful it would be if all the artistic designer
types were to pop in with 'black and white are shades, not colors' every
time someone made that mistake? 

unless you can explain how the constant repetition of this information
is helpful, could you please stop?
