Thank you both for checking.

<tip type="Self Promotion of website" author="Joshua Olson">
New clients always ask me "How do I get my site to the top of the search
engine?". The answer is generally the same in each case: build a great
standards-compliant site, write good and plentiful content, submit the site
to every imaginable search engine, and get lots of inbound links. The last
one is the one that usually scares the dickens out of clients because they
presume this means coming out of pocket for advertising. However, this
isn't always the case.

One of the best, and cheapest, ways to get inbound links is to get involved
with mailing lists, message boards, and blogs that allow you to
self-promote. Post intelligently, post often, and use targeting words in
the signature block along with a link directly to the appropriate page on
your site. If you've created a long and eloquent response relevant to the
thread, post the information on your website, then include link to your
website with a summary as part of the post.
