I'm not sure how the situation came about, and so don't have a full 
story here.

GoLive does use absolute local paths instead of relative paths if the 
links were made before the HTML file had any local location... if the 
original creator didn't create a local site structure or save the file 
locally before linking, then they may indeed have a bunch of hardwired 
local paths. If so, then it may take a bit of smart searching to replace. :(

For graphics, are you seeing a problem with the actual IMG SRC 
locations? There's a reference to the original source file for ease in 
subsequent editing, but when viewed in a web browser you see the actual 
compressed image... true?
