[thelist] MySQL server not responding

I installed MySQL locally on a machine running Windows Vista, but
apparently the install wasn't completely successful. When I try and
run PHP MyAdmin is says "The Server is not repsponding". I also, have
the WAMP controller installed, and I tried starting and stopping
everything through that. I am not sure how to debug to see what went
wrong. Is there a way to check through the MySQL console? I am not
sure why the install did not work or how to debug.
