PHPBB is known for being easily hacked. You need to ask in the PHPBB forums.

Even though its free (PHPBB) its worth the $6 a month with a $20 one time 
setup feeto have Invision Power Board instead and hosted by them.

Also any new versions are  done for you, just submit a ticket.
