If they let themselves become "between webmasters" Murphy's Law
dictates that it will be exactly then that the server utterly collapses to
a state far beyond the capacity of "CPanel" or any such GUI rubbish
to restore.

One way or another, this client needs to have someone available who
actually knows what they're doing. To me it sounds like they should be
paying for hosting with included admin coverage, whether provided by
you, the "development firm" or the hosting company itself.
