The fan site idea is a great one. If there are any fan sites that already
exist, he may be able to give the domain to them as well.

You might also post at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ Specifically in the
domain section. You should be able to get some good direction there.

Subject: [thelist] selling a domain name

Looking for pointers I can pass along to a friend about selling a domain
name. (I'm not sharing the name yet because I haven't asked him if he wants
to publicise the fact that he's selling.)
It's a dot com, the name of his band which was wildly successful in Vegas
for 38 years. They all retired from full time showbiz two years ago, and he
thinks it's time to let it go, but would prefer not to just drop the domain
name he's had for quite a few years (obviously not 38 ;)

I'm going to suggest that he post a message on the site for any fans who
might want to take it over as a fan site.

Any suggestions for making a rational valuation, services to use/not use,
things he ought to think about, avoid, or plant in the basement?
