[thelist] .htaccess redirect issue

I'm curious--why not just use a custom error?  It seems so much simpler that
way to me...

I'm trying to redirect pages not found back to the index of a directory,
without having to created a custom error page that would then link them
back to index.
 

I've tried this:


ErrorDocument 404 index.ph
 

to no avail.


Is there another way I should be trying this?
