True, plus it's ubiquitous -- every *nix variant will have vi, if no other
text editor. And the fact that you can simply open, say, some config
file from the command line, make a change and save in a couple of
seconds (without touching a mouse) is unbeatable.

I'm on a Mac (with *nix and Windows VMs) and I use vi every day,
along with jEdit and NetBeans.
