[thelist] wireless cards for ubuntu linux

This is just barely not off post, but is relevant that it will help me 
test coffee shop responsiveness... yabba dabba.

There once was a time when it was a haphazard experience getting 
wireless, wireless cards working for Linux.  I will be reinstalling a 
laptop with Ubuntu (probably dual boot to accomodate Windows).  Do we 
have any recommendations on tried/true wireless cards that will work 
plug-play with Ubuntu Linux?  Any other recommendations?
