[thelist] curious failure of responsive menu on iPad

General comment: I find drop-down menus like this hard to use and this one
seems to not account for taps vs clicks and there seems to be a consistent
bug triggered by an orientation change on an iPad2: When I load test3,
expand the menu, then change orientation, the + signs turn to - and vice
versa.
