From martin at uckwa.org Sun Nov 6 02:46:56 2005 From: martin at uckwa.org (Martin Burns) Date: Sun, 6 Nov 2005 08:46:56 +0000 Subject: [DesDev] teo up and ready Message-ID: <88E0F9B7-41F6-4535-8F3F-1FA9C275D317@uckwa.org> Folks We've now got teo up and running, replicating weo exactly, except for one test article which I added just so *I* didn't get confused which one I was working on. Cheers to Genghis for doing that. What I think we should do now on teo: 1) Do the 4.6.3 upgrade and if successful, replicate to weo 2) Start fixing some of the hangovers from weo development and stuff people have pointed out since. Sources for these: * http://test.evolt.org/issues * http://test.evolt.org/evolt_3.0 in particular, I'd like to fix: a) Article font size is too small b) better separate trackbacks - at the moment, they're stuck between the article and the author bio. Maybe move to before the comments? c) HTML validation - the form clearing Javascript from the old site isn't valid XHTML d) Form layout - in IE, most of the forms disappear way to the bottom of the page below the left column. e) Make the cubes in the page header part of the links 3) Look at some additional modules, in particular: a) Vimfilter - it's one giant step on from the current code- colouring module that works in PHP only. Vimfilter works for pretty much all coding languages. Needs a Perl module iirc. b) pathauto - automagically produces human-readable URLs rather than /node/1234 c) Notify - lets users (and admin!) know when new content is available. After that, I'd *really* like to look at l10n - enabling the interface to be presented in multiple languages. Anyone got any different/additional ideas? If you're working on the evolt theme, you'll need CVS access (yay - version control). So I did the 1st task which is to up the font size in articles from 0.85em to 0.95em http://test.evolt.org/these-things-i-know-php-tips -v- http://www.evolt.org/these-things-i-know-php-tips Your thoughts appreciated The other thing is that I thought "Hmmm let's make planet.evolt.org a bit better known" and remembered that we had an unused "play" link for the header. This was originally specced as for evolters.org, which peo is in the direction of. So I added that link, and mocked up peo in green (it's colour themed wrongly anyway atm if you ask me - it's not part of "work"): http://islands.easyweb.co.uk/~martin/peo/ and added the linky to & from teo. Yes? No? Maybe? Better if..? But the line spacing is a little too big, it needs reduced. > So I added that link, and mocked up peo in green I can't see a green cube in safari - but I don't see why this shouldn't be done. -- adrinux (aka Adrian Simmons) e-mail AOL/Yahoo IM: perlucida, Microsoft: adrian at perlucida.com From dmah at shaw.ca Thu Nov 24 08:59:22 2005 From: dmah at shaw.ca (Dean Mah) Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2005 07:59:22 -0700 Subject: [DesDev] teo up and running In-Reply-To: <39A16CCD-40FF-4B9F-BD26-557A7EC9E7D0@uckwa.org> References: <39A16CCD-40FF-4B9F-BD26-557A7EC9E7D0@uckwa.org> Message-ID: <4385D54A.3060404@shaw.ca> Martin Burns wrote: > So I did the 1st task which is to up the font size in articles from > 0.85em to 0.95em > http://test.evolt.org/these-things-i-know-php-tips > -v- > http://www.evolt.org/these-things-i-know-php-tips > Your thoughts appreciated I don't notice much of a difference but I never had a problem with the original font sizing though. I'd say go ahead and make the change. No? Maybe? Better if..? I'd say let's go ahead and link it to production after it has been coloured appropriately. We might want to add some sort of pinned article to explain what it is and how to add yourself or just what the plans are in general for 'Play'. Dean
