In response to prodding from John:
http://lists.evolt.org/steeringarchive/2002-December/000163.html and the
fact that Ron's bandwidth costs him (and therefore could/should/will get
passed on to us) $3.50 per GB, I propose:
1) This is not sustainable and we cannot afford it ($10k per annum...)
2) That 1 or 2 managed boxes at Rackshack prices ($100+taxes each for
400GB each per month) is affordable from a low level of donations [hell, 4
of us currently support eouk]
3) That evolt.org therefore will only provide budget for hosting at that
cost level
4) That evolt.org put maximum effort into working out what technical
architecture is therefore required, with a cutoff date of 1st June to
implementation.
5) That we sell off the existing boxes to provide either back fees owed to
Ron or a buffer of X months' hosting at the new place.
Essentially, we're pulling the plug on co-lo with 5 months' notice.
If we agree this, then we take it to steering for our sysadmin/desdev
brethren to work on.
Cheers
Martin
