[Javascript] Absolute Position of BUTTON

Hi Javascript Gurus,

I'm an absolute beginner with Javascript - hence the following problem:
I have a few BUTTONs in a FORM and would like to know the absolute
position of this BUTTONs so I can use this x- and y-values to open a
window near this button (and display a date selector).

How can I get the absolut position of a BUTTON (or IMG) element?
