[Javascript] client-side table sorting - not disregarding datatype

Hi,

 On my sites, I use a tablesort script that does a straight alphasort of the
data in the selected column, producing good results for text but not for
dates and numbers.

Is anyone aware of an off-the-shelf script that will also correctly handle
dates and numbers?
