[Javascript] object vs.embed

Greetings All!

When using object to embed a Flash object. Is it possible to make this 
work without using embed as well? Can one use embed alone without 
object? I know this works but is it correct or should a embed tag always 
be wrapped in an object tag?

If this is not the best place to ask these questions please let me know 
of a list or forum where this will be more appropriate. Thanks!
