Well, some people sell stuff like that. For instance:
http://www.addobject.com/products/nlsmenu.php
http://www.addobject.com/nlsmenudemo/default.php - click on Demo 23
or
http://dhtml-menu.com/examples/ef2-cross-frame-menu.html
I just thought one of you experts might be doing the same thing yourself, or know a group that was...
I'd rather not use an iFrame for something as basic as a menu. Not only would it mean re-writing the whole site, but some people block iFrames in their web settings, thanks to the Microsoft-led 'War on the Different Website'.

Hi Tim,
You seem to be asking a lot. Something like this could work in IE because of the createPopup method, but in order to function in other browsers, someone would need to take into account the frame size and position relative to any other frames, and then put exactly the right amount of the menu in that other document so that it would appear to overlap the frame boundary. I'd be surprised if anyone has done that commercially, let alone for free.
One alternative would be to use iframes in your page and keep the menu in the parent page, rather than in a frame.
Regards,
Peter

Does anyone know of a good, free, javascript drop-down menu with
cross-frames ability, that doesn't need any extra code in the subframe?
Much searching has revealed very little...
