Subject: [Marketing] sponsorship policy

>we have to make a clear decision regarding the acceptance/rejection of
>corporate sponsorship in the community.

As this is a larger policy decision, I'm not sure Marketing can make it
(or, to put it another way, if I were a non-member of marketing, I'd be
seriously pissed off if Marketing decided on my behalf).

However, we *do* have a valid opinion on which would be effective.

>from what we could discuss last week we can have 3 options:

>a.- accept no sponsorship at all, rely only on personal donations

I'm with John on this - we don't have personal donations worth talking
about. Can someone who's also on the development list enquire why the
monthly total-ometer isn't up and running?

>b.- accept corporate donations, and use a 'wall of sponsors' to
>recognize them

Could work, but would be a lot of work selling enough. Would need to be a
regular payment, and be locked in for a period of time.

>c.- sell some kind of banners

If it were a single sponsor, locked into a long-term relationship, this
could also work. BTW, I think Glasshaus might be appropriate...

<opinions on which is most acceptable written and deleted in light of my
1st comment...>
