i think it's a bad idea mainly because we were never on our own boxes prior to cf5 so we wouldn't be entitled to licenses or have been required to have licenses at that time.  when we switched over to cf5 it was when it was still in heavy beta on linux.  we ran on the eval serials for a short while.  occasionally they'd time out and dan'd have to pull some server magic to get things back the way they should be.  at some point in the mix it just kept working.

my suspicion is that *if* proper licenses for the software we're running now ever existed we aren't likely to see them because he'll want to use them on the servers for f2o.org.

by far the biggest concern is the oracle license as that's a $40,000usd expense we don't need.  noncompliance with some software companies can be life-threatening.  oracle is one of those companies.
