we have an open-source philosophy?  sure, some of us prefer to use oss, but
that doesn't mean we have an open-source philosophy.  more importantly, an
open-source philosophy really doesn't do a good job of satisfying any of the
following:

what does a good job of satisfying the above is something i think we've done
well so far which is using the right tool for the job, regardless of whether
it's oss or not.  i think that message is far more important to our members
than pushing some sort of arguably beneficial open-source philosophy.

so, i'd move to either strike that bullet point from the list or revise to
something more descriptive of our stance and our goals.
