>Who are you?

Chris Spruck, 31, Atlanta, Georgia, USA (and desperately wanting to move
back to the coast, preferably in the northeast or northwest US or
internationally), single, no kids or pets.

>What do you do?

- I'm a Web Swiss Army knife for adam.com, an online health information
syndicator. I did quality assurance for CD-ROM and web applications and
have done a lot of HTML, Javascript, SQL, and ColdFusion work for internal
and external tools and products. Recently, I've started to do more XML,
Visual Basic and ASP work.
- sail, bike, hike, pretty much anything outdoors
- read a lot

>What do you want to do?

- keep learning and developing new skills
- contribute somehow to the evolt community
- parlay my computer and web expertise (back) into a meaningful job in the
field I knew I would work in since I was 8 (and did work in until 5 years
ago) - marine biology research (you probably don't want to know why I don't
eat oysters, hehehe)
- adopt a simpler way of life than the corporate web rat race
- travel and do photography a lot more

>What has been your experience with evolt so far?

Terrific - I mostly lurk on thelist and thechat, but have thrown out a rare
question or response in the year or so I've been a member. I was passively
recruited by Rudy's sig from another list that I've since dropped due to
low signal. I would love to do more with evolt in the way of list replies
or articles, but finding the time is hard and most list things I can answer
get answered before I have the chance. I feel like there are a LOT more
people here who are way more expert than I in things I could possibly write
an article about, so that's intimidating. I'd like to be involved in a
Codefest sometime, but unfortunately had to miss the last one, and I'd
definitely be up for a Beervolt if there was one within reasonable distance
(or a cheap enough flight), but I haven't run across anyone else from
around here on the lists. I'd be interested in the basic demographic stuff
that's been mentioned here, in case I'm traveling and could meet evolt
members or someone is passing through Atlanta.

I joined this list mostly just to see what the hullabaloo was all about.
I'm perfectly happy not being an admin, since I don't have much extra time
to devote right now, although I hope to soon.

>Do you have a cat?

No, but I bought one of those self-contained Ecospheres
<http://www.eco-sphere.com/> a couple years ago, and still have two
surviving shrimp, Leroy and Tyrone.

>Do you kick kittens?

No, but when it comes to bugs, all bets are off.

>Got a URL?

Yes, but there's nothing there yet - got a few ideas for some projects I
can never seem to start. Since there was talk of monkey pictures, I'll have
to post the yet-to-be-scanned pics of me with a gibbon wrapped around my
leg and ones with me near wild orangutans - spent 17 days in Indonesia
(Borneo, Komodo, Bali, Java, and other islands) in July.

>If you limited yourself to one food for the rest of your life what would
>it be?

Impossible to decide, but a rousing +42 to Seb for the Staropramen (Czech
beer) mention - spent a week in Prague two years ago and drank lots while I
was there. If you can find Louny Dark, that's another great Czech beer.

>Boxers or Thongs?

Boxer briefs.

>If you got into a fight with Taylor, would you win?

I still don't get this Taylor business, so I'll have to give you a
"definite maybe".
----------------------
Probably way more than you wanted to know, so I'll try to stock the tip jar
soon.

Tremendous thanks to the admins and all those who have helped make evolt
the terrific resource it is - hope I can contribute more significantly soon!

Chris
