i like the design in general, but there are a few problems with it.  for
one, the coloring is different than other elements already defined in the
css (the worst part being the border around the box and its color) which
means we'd have to define new classes specifically for this block.  i was
hoping to avoid doing that.

that's one of the things i *really* like about it.  it gives the article
personality if i can see the author's face in my mind as i read it.  putting
it at the end means that i have to scroll to even see if there's a photo and
then scroll back up.  take a look at how some other sites give their
author's recognition with photos:

one thing i'm seeing is the use of a small, more icon-sized thumbnail of the
author.  perhaps that's what we could do here.

a separate issue from the one we're discussing right now, but toggle?  me
thinks not.

this i'm fine with, with the obvious exception that i prefer to have the
photo (even if it's just a small thumbnail) at the top of the article.
everything else works well at the end of it like you have it.
