The potential revenue is not at all related to the current level of
usage (except as a function of the number of current meo users who move to
the new service).
It's a simple (number of subscribers) x (monthly fee). Making illustrative
assumptions (both open to discussion at a later point) that
1) Wherever we end up will not be more expensive than 2 boxes at rackshack
(ie 2 x $100 + taxes)
2) The average monthly income per subscriber is $10
as long as we get > 25 users (and I think 50 is a more sensible target),
then we're long term sustainable, and can even (gasp) put money aside for
future contingency.
To put it more plainly:
New meo revenues - combined with lower cost hosting - are the thing which
will ensure that we never have to worry about paying our way *ever again*.
