Actually, that's a bit simplistic.

Any organisation like evolt will and should live off a number of 
different sources of revenue, not entirely depending on a single one. 
We always assumed that adsense would not pay for all of evolt, and 
neither would donations. That way, if either suffers a catastrophic 
failure (say, google change the rules so that we only make $5/month), 
we wouldn't have to start from scratch on another income source.

Multiple income sources = reduced risk.

Besides as I keep pointing out, we have nearly 2 years' worth of 
$99/month already in the bank.

Assuming $45/month from adsense, that means we're secure for not 2 
years, but over 3. This is more security of hosting than we've ever 
had. I'm just failing to see the problem that putting ads anywhere else 
would solve.
