"we're" not considering it at *all*. the point of my posting this news
about the ads on b.e.o. was to point out that we have a very GOOD chance of
supporting ourselves on those ads alone. and the reason i asked that the
newcomers *not* suggest what you've suggested (and are now making a point of
arguing about) was because i know some folks here are relatively new to
evolt, and don't yet "get it" that the only reason we *have* $2000 to spend
is because our members value the community, and the information, and donate
to us for the sole purpose of supporting evolt as a free, high-quality
informational resource, and they value the fact that it is all volunteer,
that is is not commercialized and (now only mostly) free of advertising.

that was an unnecessarily inflammatory statment, Paul. i don't think the
negativity and drama is helpful to this discussion, and i don't think any of
us would be here, working on evolt, if we felt that it would "eventually
die" without revenue. evolt is not a dot-com, and is not a business
venture. it's a labor of love. as such it will survive as long as, and
only to the extent that, the people who are involved with it, support it,
and whether that involvement comes from a hundred members each donating a
couple of dollars, one system administrator donating a hundred a month in
services, or people donating their time and effort to coordinate it all.
you can just take the forecasts of doom off the list, if you don't mind.

please spare us your "been around" wisdom. it just draws more attention to
the fact that you obviously haven't been around, here.

it is. when something puts your knee pain, or danger, you jerk. are
getting a clue yet?

please. the more you talk, you less it seems you a) belong here, or b) want
to.
