With the addition of the separated smtpd processes, e-mail appears to
be pumping through the server. I haven't had to restart qmail or
mailman since the change. Before the change, we needed to restart
either or both multiple times a day.

Anthony's message ([thelist] Why does this JS code work the way it
does???) is stamped with multiple times. Here's the headers from the
mbox file:

Note that various timestamps. qmail on tempest seems to have received
the message on Tue Dec 12 07:03:53 CST. The incoming message was
processed in 5.5 seconds and was on its way out on Tue Dec 12 07:03:59
CST.

There's an additional header that says "mail.areamail.net received the
message from the localhost (209.142.3.24) on Mon Dec 11 10:52:51 PST
which would imply that it took a long time getting out of
mail.areamail.net. Since Anthony's MUA stamped the message at Mon Dec
11 10:52:51 PST as well.

The archive says that the e-mail was received on Mon Dec 11 12:52:51
CST which would be the time of sending.

So the problem appears to be that the e-mail spent a long time in
mail.areamail.net's queue and the list archives e-mail by the sending
date and not the date the e-mail was received by mailman.

Does that make sense or are you seeing a different problem?

Dean
