couldn't resists, although it might be just slightly off topic: i'm a big fan of iht.com also, and i stumbled across this interview with the designer: http://www.designinteract.com/insights/ it doesn't really talk about the engineering, but still.. while we're talking IHT, let me just say that being the geek i am, it was really fun/insightful to read throught all their .js and .css files. lots of good jems and elegant techniques. if you use marginheight, marginwidth, leftmargin, and rightmargin in your body tags. and are frustrated that it doesn't validate in homesite 4.5, there is a way. Options > Settings > Validation > Validator Setting > Tags. Then, scroll down to , expand it, right-click on "attributes", Add, "leftmargin" for example. Click OK. Right-click on the attribute you just added, and choose "add value", then scroll down to "zero". Repete for any other attributes (4 times, in this case). Voila. Now your pages will validate fully. cheers. nk. ---- thelist@lists.evolt.org wrote: > At 01:35 PM 31/05/2001 -0400, you wrote (about http://www.iht.com): > > > > It really is excellent - the best use of DHTML I've seen. > > > Hence me wanting > > > > to copy it :) > > > > > > Hi, > > > It is nice, but as usual with DHTML it's just a trick. > > > >Yeah it's a total hack, but very nice, and a good substitute until we truly > >have mulit column layout: > >http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-multicol/ > > Just FYI (in case you're planning on using it), it doesn't work at all in > Opera 5.1 - the stories don't show up (at all), and most of the nav is only > half on the screen. > > Regards, > > Noah > > > --------------------------------------- > For unsubscribe and other options, including > the Tip Harvester and archive of TheList go to: > http://lists.evolt.org Workers of the Web, evolt ! > >
