Paul - 

Start with learning basic Java skills, and then move on to actual JSP development.

You need to have a good handle on OO and it's implementation in Java before you 
start tackling the J2EE stuff.

http://java.sun.com obviously - grab the SDK for J2SE, and browse their tutorials. 
They are very good! :o)
