[thechat] Re-formatting a Mac

A friend of mine has an old Performa 5320 Power Mac that he inherited from a
friend. It has loads of old junk & programs installed and he wants to
completely start over. I have suggested he re-format it but I have no idea
how to go about this (I'm a PC user). Can anybody point me in the right
direction or offer any advice please?
