I'd recommend any vintage of Gibson to anyone - just read each book a couple
of times to get the layers.  Also for some pure SF, try Jerry Pournelle or
Larry Niven, or for a strange and interesting time, try Phil K. Dick.

For non-SF, I must admit to settling down to a Coupland book (Microserfs is
a personal fave), or some non-fiction (World War 3.0 about the MS anti-trust
trial is one i'm plowing through atm).
