[thechat] Fireworks-y Holidays Around the World

Last night as we were waiting for the fireworks to
start at the Independence Day celebration here in
the USA my 10-year-old daughter (Sarita) asked me if 
they had an Independence Day celebration in the UK. 
This got us to talking about who celebrates what and 
when with fireworks. 

I remember fireworks being part of New Years Eve
celebration in Hamburg, Germany. I know that fireworks
are an integral part of Swiss Independence on August
1.
Great memories of cruising on Lake Thun in a sidewheel
steamship and watching all the fireworks on the shore.

What's the big celebration with fireworks in your
