The *real* solution, though, would be to buy *Israel*.
Much of this hostility comes from the fact that it was
created by taking land from people who had inhabited
it for thousands of years. The country has only existed
about 50 years, and most of the Jewish citizenry has
been there less than half that time.

Land taken from others?? Not true in any way, shape or form... First off,
the Jews have lived in Palestine for over 4000 years certainly LONG before
the Muslims arrived in the 600's. They were booted out off THEIR land long
ago. The Arabs aren't even from the area, they are from the Arabian
peninsula and only came to the area as part of the invading Muslim army.
Secondly, as I explained a few days ago in reply to another who posted the
same propaganda you just did:

Uh, apparently your history book was a little deficient or your teacher was
or you slept in class too much... The original partition of the area was
into a Jewish part and an Arab (Palestinian) part. The Arab land was
absorbed by Egypt and Jordan after they declared war, along with other Arab
countries, on Israel the day after the nation was founded in 1947. The
Palestinians wholeheartedly joined in this war. There were already a lot of
Jews in this area and the Palestinians were not booted off their land for it
to be given to European settlers. They left because they didn't want to be
in the way of the invading Arab armies. When the Israelis smashed the
invaders, the Palestinians were left with nothing, which is usually what
happens when you are on the losing side of a war. Jordan occupied the West
Bank and Egypt occupied Gaza for 20 years and they didn't set up a nation
for the Palestinians like the UN resolution called for. Then when Israel
conquered those areas after yet another Arab attempt to wipe them off the
planet in '67, suddenly everyone was calling it an illegal occupation and
demanding that Israel give it to the Palestinians to make their own country
and on top of that the Palestinians want to return to land they voluntarily
left in 1947...

Earlier someone asked "Why does the US support Israel?" In my opinion, any
American asking why we, as the "Arsenal of Democracy", support a
democratic-republican country that is surrounded by theocracies,
dictatorships, monarchies and oligarchies that have tried to annihilate said
country many times is either hopelessly naive or just plain ignorant...
Israel has done far more for the Palestinians than ANY Arab country EVER
has. Jordan stole their land in 1947 and then kicked them out of the refugee
camps in that country. Then they went to Tunisia, which kicked them out a
few years later. The ISRAELIS allowed them into the West Bank and have been
trying to fashion a peace treaty ever since. They have bent over backward to
make peace and they just keep getting attacked for it.

Land has changed hands after wars for as long as history, why is the world
so focused on this piece of land? China has occupied Tibet since 1950,
http://www.tibet.org/sft/tibet.htm. 40% of the current land of Poland is
former German territory. The Kurds are persecuted by Iraq, Syria and Turkey
and denied a homeland by all three. Almost every piece of land on this
planet is occupied by someone who was not a member of the original occupying
group. To even
