Am I taking it too seriously? Probably. But I'm living in late 2001.
Things are serious.

I'm living in a city with significant military infrastructure. I'm
within 50 miles of a Nuclear Power plant. I'm within miles of an
airport. I've signed up to be notified in the case that Respiratory
Therapists are needed in a mass casualty situation here in the USA. Life
is as serious as it can be right now.

The joke of violence is not funny to me right now. :-(
