One of the more important bits to that is "and unable to get out
of it". I'm reading a book on Psychopharmacology (written
for non-brain-surgeons like me) which has a good chapter
on the different types of depression, and how each is treatable
by different types of of anti-depressants.

I didn't realise that Valium & Prozac treat different conditions
and they're not interchangeable (yes, I do know there are other issues 
with them)
