Have a friend of mine up north that quit smoking going on probably ten years
now cold turkey. For about the first 3-4 years he was able to force smoke
out of his lungs.  I have never tried smoking and or any kind of drugs
(maybe a drink here and there) and seeing him do that made it sink in even
more what smoking can do.

One of my ex-sister-in-laws said that getting off heroin was tough, but
nothing compared to quitting smoking. I've never done either so I can't say,
but I feel for you.
