Position:  Supply Chain Programmer/Analyst

Location:  Cincinnati, Ohio

Inclusive Job Description:


Under general direction, formulates/defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to design or modify moderately complex Oracle database information systems.  Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written.  Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains those programs.  Possesses competent skills to work in most phases of application database analysis, design, and development activities.



POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:



1.   ACCOUNTABILITY - Shared accountability (with users) via project team structure, for the timely and effective

 development and implementation of new computer systems or revisions to installed systems.



2.   SERVICE RELATIONSHIPS

Important and frequent contacts which include relationships with user department personnel (such as Production and Marketing).  Fosters a cooperative attitude across all MIS supporting functions.



3.   MENTAL DEMANDS

Requires independent judgment with analytical skills in formulating decisions.  Possess a complete understanding of Oracle database development tools, and Unix hardware equipment. Ability to work well without constant supervision.



4.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY - None.



5.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Marginal lifting.





EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of computer applications within the supply chain portion of the business environment.  Minimum education is an undergraduate Degree.  Minimum of two to four years systems and applications development experience is required with high technical proficiency in a Unix/oracle environment.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



 1.        Answers questions and solves problems encountered by user personnel concerning the use of installed systems or programs.



 2.        Assists in the design and implementation of logical and physical databases that support required business functions related to supply chain activities.



 3.        Prepares and reviews action plans with senior level personnel for all projects that take more than eight hours and obtains user approval.



 4.         Reviews and prepares documentation of complete systems and programs to include:



            - User systems and programming request forms initiation.

            - User security request forms initiation.

            - Program specifications to include data dictionary updates, logic flows, and selection/formula criteria.

- Physical and logical database design.

            - Appropriate and adequate user documentation.

            - MIS and user management approval.



 5.        Enters program source code for new or revised database designs into computer.  Compiles program source code and debugs program to executable state.



 6.        Develops program test data with all conditions and permutations used in program and systems testing.



 7.        Debugs and tests programs on an individual basis and within a system flow to ensure error-free execution upon implementation for users.



 8.         Implement revisions to installed database systems or newly developed systems with appropriate user personnel.



 9.        Trains user personnel for effective systems understanding and use.



10.        Maintains a level of knowledge to effectively support installed computers, and future upgrades as outlined in the MIS Long Range Plan.  This knowledge can be obtained by:

                      - Studying technical manuals.

                      - Reading technical periodicals.

                      - Use of formal training and computer based training.



11.       Implement security policies for the Company's information database in the design and implementation of systems and system components.



12.       Immediately respond to correct systems and/or program problems when the problem is adversely affecting the operation of the Company.



13.               Prepare monthly activity progress reports.




SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



1.             Knowledge of Oracle database functionality.

2.             Working knowledge of NT operating system environment.

3.             Solid understanding of data communications architecture including, Internet, Ethernet, Token Ring, TCP/IP, routers/bridges, and related technologies.

4.             Familiarity with using object oriented software, and databases.

5.             1 to 2 years experience using Visual Basic a plus.

6.             Oracle database scripting as required.

7.              Apply new Manugistics releases as required.

8.              Assist Database Administer when needed.

9.              Knowledge of Unix Operating system and archiving software and backup procedures.

10.          Web-Connect tool usage.

11.          Security and dictionary administration.

12.          User interface for technical questions.

13.          Custom user required views.

14.          Custom user required reporting.

15.          Analysis of change request from Business Units and ramifications to database system.

16.          Documentation of systems and programs requirements.
