believe what? that shy people can and sometimes do use the Internet
to avoid face-to-face social situations?

yes. so what? is it even worth writing about?

Is it any secret that the Internet is profoundly affecting the way we
communicate with each other?

What everyone seems to worry about is whether the effect "good" or
"bad." But I say these kinds of swords are *always* double-edged.

Examples:

phonetic alphabet - good or bad
printing press - good or bad
agriculture - good or bad
automatic weaponry - good or bad
automobiles - good or bad
television - good or bad

I say every one is double-edged.
