Memo from Martin P Burns of PricewaterhouseCoopers

>talking about the death penalty always makes many people upset -- you'd be
>surprised how many people are either for or against the death penalty
>independent of the crime for which it is applied which i have
>never, ever been able to understand

Interesting, never thought of that...

>so instead of talking about the death penalty for rape, let's make it
>castration, okay?

Which would work... except that the research shows that usually rape is
primarily a power thing, not a sex thing.

Take the case that we're talking about - that rape was very clearly an
exercise of power.

While that punishment may prevent an exact repeat of the crime, it isn't a
deterrent.

Cheers
Martin
