Howdy,

Alex Beam of the Boston Globe has a little ditty regarding Dick and
"Minority Report" in today's
paper.<http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/190/living/The_unsung_impact_of_Ted
_s_clout+.shtml>

"A paranoid has been defined as a man with all of the information at his
disposal. There is no doubt that the late science-fiction writer Philip K.
Dick was clinically paranoid. But did he foresee that his own work would
pass out of his control?"

Of course, a week ago he was writing about how air conditioning led the
decline of western civilization, so there ya go.

I thought "Minority Report" was a good excuse to get out of the sun and into
some air conditioning last week. The interesting question is, in the USAian
system, do all the protections provided for those accused of a crime (to a
trial, against self-incrimination, etc.) apply to those accused of not
committing a crime?

=)

started all that."

-----Original Message-----
I saw Minority Report last night, and thought it was really good.
Plenty of Gibson (sprawl stuff) and Stephenson (esp. Diamond Age) in
there. Someone is a cyberpunk fan. The effects and the whole, "This
is the future" aspects of the movie don't get in the way of the
movie, which is fun. The dialog isn't even bad.
