well, ssh was a twinkle in our eyes at the time, but telnet
vanuata.dcs.gla.ac.uk was always a possibility :)

do a zone transfer [1] of dcs.gla.ac.uk from dns2.gla.ac.uk and you'll see
what i mean ;)

[1] if you're linuxy, type

   dig dcs.gla.ac.uk axfr @dns2.gla.ac.uk
