not I - I was but a twinkle in my yet-to-meet parents eyes at the time

I still remember hearing reports of planes crashing into things, and
instantly dismissing them as jokes in bad taste ... and then we couldn't get
to news.bbc.co.uk, or cnn.com, or sky.com/news ... I will always
unfortunately associate Ananova with September 11th, as it was the first
place we ever found confirmation from the outside world what had happened
...

This date is lost on me, I'm afraid.

> -- january 28 1986

I was only 11 at the time, but I still remember this as clear as day - I
remember going to my aunt's house straight from school, only about 1mi away
from my parents, to meet my mum, and we walked back home. Once we got in, I
turned the television on, and it was tuned into Channel Four at the time,
showing Countdown (UK gameshow based around words and math - most noted for
Carol Vorderman). I turned to ITV, who had Trevor McDonald talking about
something grevious. They then showed that clip which is undoubtedly burned
into the minds of most of my generation - that of Challenger being destroyed
in a huge fireball, and the SRBs careering wildly off into the distance,
before being remotely exploded by launch control ... and I remember almost
crying. I loved - and still love - the idea of space exploration, and while
I was hugely saddened by the loss of life that I knew had occurred, I was
also saddened by the realisation that the US space programme had been set
back years.

Another date lost on me - related to Vietnam? I have no clue.

> -- november 22 1963

A date only relevant to me through history books, documentaries, films and
eyewitness accounts. Oh, and of course the reams and reams of controversy
and conspiracy theories brewed ever since!
