Curry powder is a completely occidental invention. No such thing exists
here in India, I assure you. No decent Indian cook would dream of using the
same spice mix for every bloody dish. ;)

Besides, the cuisine of India varies so damn much throughout the country
that even "Indian cuisine" is too broad a term. "Punjabi food" or "Mughlai
food" is probably a better description.

Oddly enough, a couple of dishes served in restaurants here actually
originated in UK. Take Chicken Tikka, for instance. It was created by an
enterprising chef in the 1950s to cater to the Englishmen who wanted
Tandoori Chicken sans the bones. So Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Chicken
share the same marinade and recipe.

Another chef decided to extend the Tikka and make a saucy "curry" dish out
of it. And hence was born the Chicken Tikka Masala, which some people call
the national dish of UK. ;)
