The difference is that these terrorists commit these crimes in the name of
Islam i.e., for a religious cause. Whether the religion calls for it or not
isn't the issue; it's that the terrorists believe it does.

I also think there's a subtle distinction between Islamic and Islamist (at
least in my mind).
