I love that book. I would have liked to find a recording of his radio
lectures, but I'm not sure it exists anywhere...

Indeed. For those who haven't read the book (which is probably everyone
but me and Joe :), CS Lewis tries to argue that we all -- regardless of
faith, culture, or anything else - have the **same fundamental
understanding** of right and wrong. We all agree on the Big Stuff --
grabbing a baby from it's mother's stroller and throwing it in front of
a bus/hose-buggy/train is wrong in every culture on this planet.

He goes on to argue that this is the proof of some higher power -- this
fundamental sense of right versus wrong is the fingerprint of our
creator, who by his/hers/its very definition must be some kind of deity,
and must itself have what we would call a "conscience". Certainly
thought provoking, but ultimately wrong.

+1, and that's why CS Lewis is wrong.
