[thechat] Win2k thinks there's a mouse

I got a new (USB) mouse for my Windows box and every time I boot up I
get one beep and a message "8603 PS/2 Pointing Device Error or Not
Connected"

I removed what I thought to be the driver (PS/2 Compatible Mouse) (it
has a yellow exclamation point over it). The next time I rebooted was
fine, but Windows installed it again, and I get the same error on
startup.

How do I fix this problem?
